Il-Malti jghid, “Bejn il-kliem u l-fatti hemm bahar jikkumbatti”. Il-Partit Nazzjonalista meta fis-snin tmenin kien fl-opposizzjoni, kien wieghed tmexxija permezz tad-djalogu u konsultazzjoni. Din, li kieku saret, kienet tkun politika ghaqlija u kienet taghti l-frott. Ma ninsewx li kull mizura, kull ligi, kull tibdil amministrattiv se jolqot lil xi hadd zgur. Gieli jintlaqtu ftit nies, gieli gruppi shah ta' nies u gieli jintlaqat il-poplu kollu. Kienet ghalhekk mistennija tmexxija Nazzjonalista bbazata fuq firxa wiesa ta' djalogu u konsultazzjoni mal-poplu u r-rapprezentanti tieghu. Li gara kien fil-fatt l-oppost. Il-Gvern Nazzjonalista sa' mill-bidu nett mill-1987 meta ha l-poter, wera bic-car li ma kienx jinteressah jikkonsulta mal-poplu u r-rapprezentanti tieghu. Kienet bdiet tidher il-marka tal-arroganza ta' dawk li kellhom il-poter. Din il-pagna hija ddedikata lil dawk kollha li matul is-snin ta' tmexxija Nazzjonalista ntlaqtu hazin minn mizuri li ttiehdu minghajr konsultazzjoni. L-arroganza Nazzjonalista issa ilha mill-1987 (hlief meta hadna n-nifs ghal 22 xahar) u l-unika tama li tispicca hi billi l-PN jerga jintefa' fl-oppozizzjoni.

Bdejt b'dak li qalu Dr. Fenech Adami fl-1992 u Dr. Gonzi fl-2004. Allura ghalfejn ma pprattikawx dak li suppost emmnu fih?

Matul is-snin hafna persuni u ghaqdiet ilmentaw minn nuqqas ta' konsultazzjoni mill-Gvern Nazzjonalista. Qsamt dawn l-ilmenti skond is-sena li fiha saru sabiex wiehed jaghraf li din il-problema tal-arroganza ma kienetx xi fenomenu ta' xi sena partikolari imma fil-fatt hija politika konsistenti tal-PN.

The very first important decision taken by the government after the PN's re-election has already put Dr Gonzi's commitment in doubt. Why did it not consult the opposition about its decision to re-apply for membership of the Partnership for Peace?

THE TIMES

What is striking here, however, is how the Prime Minister, who made it the central tenet of his electoral campaign that his would be “a government of all the people”, transparent and accountable for all its actions, can, within a few days of being returned to office, make a unilateral decision without in any way consulting the opposition on a subject that divides large sections of our population, irrespective of whether that is justifiable or not. This is worrying to say the least as it lays the Prime Minister open to the accusations of arrogance to which his first Administration was so prone.  … it still remains a strategic decision taken opportunistically without broad consultation in an area of politics - foreign affairs - where there has recently been remarkable consensus between the government and the opposition.

Hawnhekk ghandna l-provi, anke jekk ma kelniex bzonnhom, li l-Partit Nazzjonalista fil-gvern jimponi mizuri minghajr biss jikkonsulta ma' dawk li se jintlaqtu mill-istess mizuri . Nerga ntenni li din mhux xi haga li saret darba jew darbtejn b'kumbinazzjoni jew bi zball, imma hija l-politika zbaljata tal-Gvern Nazzjonalista. U dment li l-maggoranza tal-poplu tibqa tivvota ghall-PN u ttellghu fil-gvern, il-PN se jibqa arroganti u jghaddi minn fuq ras in-nies minghajr ma jikkalkula lil hadd.

Indunajtu bhali kemm l-arroganza Nazzjonalista zdiedet fis-sena 2004? Ghal min ma jaghtix kaz, forsi problemi bhal dawn ma jidhrux kbar, imma ghal min jemmen fid-demokrazija bbazata fuq ir-rispett u d-djalogu, ma jistax ma jistmerrx din il-politika li hija sinonima ma' pajjizi fejn hemm id-dittatura. Jekk int kuntent b'din il-politika, nistiednek tivvota PN fl-elezzjoni li gejja, imma jekk politika bhal din iddejqek allura aghmel hiltek kollha sabiex darb'ohra il-PN ikun fl-oppozizzjoni forsi fl-ahhar dan il-partit jitghallem juri ftit rispett lejna li nintlaqtu mid-decizjonijiet tieghu.

U haga ohra. Certu kliem tal-PN ghandu jittiehed bhala cajta. Ezempju:

“The Nationalist Party believes that 'dialogue' is the means to reach agreement on public policy.” – Website tal-kazin Nazzjonalista tal-Mellieha.

L-anqas maghhom innifishom ma jikkonsultaw. Dr. Lawrence Gonzi qabad u nnomina lil Dr. George Abela minghajr ma biss informa jew iddiskuta mal-Kabinet tieghu stess.
